There are two cottages, both of which are identical in size and furnishings. Each is also rated as four-star self-catering accommodation by the Scottish Tourist Board.

  • The bedrooms are fully carpetted, one of which features a king-size double bed and the other twin beds. Both bedrooms have Dimplex heaters. All pillows and duvets have anti-allergy fillings.
  • The living room is south facing with an uninterrupted view across Loch Indaal and has an open fire along with night storage and panel heaters. It is fully carpetted and features a Cintique suite, satellite TV, DVD, a radio, and comfortable sofas.
  • The kitchen is modern and thoughtfully equipped with all-electric fitments, including cooker, fridge/freezer and a microwave. There is also a dining area with pine table and chairs.
  • The bathroom is fully tiled with a bath, shower, heated towel rail and a wall heater.
  • The utility room has a tiled floor and contains a washing machine and tumble dryer, with ample space for coats and shoes.

Once you have arrived, you can explore the village of Port Charlotte. On a leisurely stroll you will find four restaurants, including an award-winning hotel. There are many more good places to eat on the island, each offering a wealth of home produced beef, lamb, pork, game and seafood from the clear waters of Islay.

In addition, Port Charlotte also features:

  • the Islay Natural History and Wildlife Centre, a venue for welcome evenings and talks with slide shows.
  • the Museum of Islay Life, with exhibits and comprehensive library of reference books.
  • a Post Office with free ATM and a licenced grocer's shop.
  • locally-based cycle hire (phone +44 (0)1496 850488).
  • a superb playpark for children and playing fields.
  • daily bird and wildlife safari tours from Islay Birding.
  • the local Port Mòr community hall.
  • a local taxi service, Rhinns Taxi Hire, which offers a 24-hour taxi service that covers all of the island.
  • Rhinns Medical Centre, for any medical requirements that you might have whilst on holiday.
  • St. Kieran's Church, with services every Sunday at 11.30am.

If you require more information, The Tourist Information Centre on Islay is in Bowmore, and is an excellent place to look for information, leaflets, books and maps. The telephone number is +44 (0) 1496 810254.
