8 Westend is a semi-detached self-catering house set in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Port Charlotte, just a few minutes walk from the village. The house overlooks the sea, with views across Loch Indaal towards the Mull of Oa, and to the rear is a large secure garden backed by open fields.
The accommodation consists of three bedrooms - one double, and one twin upstairs, and one single downstairs - living room with dining area, bathroom with bath and electric shower and a well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge, washing machine and microwave.
The house has oil-fired central heating, and an open fire in the living room for which coal is provided. There is a colour television with satellite connection (Freesat channels only) and TV with video in twin room upstairs plus a well stocked bookcase for rainy days.
The whole house has recently been redecorated and refurbished to provide comfortable, clean and modern facilites. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Port Charlotte is an ideal base from which to explore Islay, and there is plenty to do in the village itself. During the summer, The Museum of Islay Life, and the Islay Wildlife Information Centre will provide something of interest for all the family, and there is a safe, sandy beach, as well as a small pier to keep the fishermen happy.
The village has a small shop and petrol station, and there are three options for eating out - the Croft Kitchen restaurant, the Lochindaal Hotel and the Port Charlotte Hotel. For more extensive shopping, Bowmore is only a 20 minute drive away, and Islay's larger beaches and other attractions are within easy reach.
Islay has seven working distilleries, all of which welcome vistors, and an excellent par 71 links golf course. There is also an award winning community owned leisure centre with 25m pool, gym, sauna and sunbed. With miles of sandy beaches and a variety of wildlife, Islay is the ideal holiday destination for lone travellers and families alike.
