THE GILLYFLOWERS
The Gillyflowers are lead by a hard-wired and intrinsic talent, Kirsten Adamson. Spending time in Nashville with dad Stuart Adamson of Big Country, Kirsten, at the tender age of 12 recognised that her particular songwriting style was 'a little more country' than a girl from Scotland should be. Moving around so much as a child also landed Kirsten in Orlando for a while where she developed much of her live experience and having served her 'apprenticeship,' became a guest vocalist for Big Country both live and on the album Driving To Damascus.
Now 23 and living in Edinburgh, she has just finished writing her first album and has been lucky enough to meet five like minded individuals, with talent and passion for her music. The band took their first live trip on December 23rd 2008 supporting Aberfeldy at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh and subsequent interest has landed them several other shows, including support slots with Bristol's own Babel and Legendary steel guitarist Al Perkins.
"I think my writing is a bit off the wall, gossipy and vulnerable, a bit of a risk for labels in the UK,"says Kirsten. "I've got a real serious attitude where my melodies and harmonies are concerned and it's a really exciting time for me at the moment having a band who understand the depth of the songs."
