New for 2012, Gortan Self Catering is a three bedroom cottage on the edge of Lochindaal overlooking Uiskentuie Strand with a breathtaking panoramic view from The paps of Jura to The Mull of Oa. The accommodation comprises of one kingsize, one double and one twin bedroom, bathroom, shower room, spacious living room with open peat fire and a large fully equipped kitchen. Gortan also boasts a large sunroom to the front of the property where you can sit and absorb all this wonderful scenery.

Gortan Self Catering has oil central heating throughout. Electricity and oil are included in the price.
All linen and towels are provided, however please bring your own swimming / beach towels
Some peats/coal is provided on arrival.
Spacious living room with open peat fire, flat screen TV / Free sat, DVD player, selection of DVDs and some board games/puzzles.
Fully equipped kitchen with large dining table & six chairs, electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, and indoor airer. There is also a full complement of cooking utensils.
King-size bed is made up in white linen with fuchsia accessories. The room has a fitted wardrobe with shelving and hanging space.
The Double bed is also made up in white linen but is accessorised in dusky pink to complement the pink rose wallpaper on the feature wall.
The twin beds are made up in cream with green and teal accessories. This room also has a fitted wardrobe with shelving and hanging space.
Shower room with toilet and sink is situated next to the bedrooms.
The family bathroom complete with bath/shower, toilet and sink is located to the rear of the house.

How to get here

By Ferry
Caledonian MacBrayne operate a ferry service between Kennacraig and Port Ellen or Port Askaig. Full timetables for the ferry service and booking details are available on the Calmac website. During peak season it is advisable to book your desired ferry journey as early as possible. Scottish Citylink operate a bus service from Glasgow to Kennacraig which link with ferry crossings.

By Plane
Flybe fly from Glasgow airport to Islay's airport, just over five miles from Bowmore. The flight time is around 30 minutes. Timetables for these and other flights are available on the Flybe website or you can contact Flybe Reservations by phone on 0871 700 2000.

By Car
From Glasgow take the A82 Loch Lomond. follow the A83 around Loch Fyne heading to Tarbert. Kennacraig is located approximately six miles south of Tarbert. Travel time from Glasgow by car is approximately two hours. You can then take your car across to Islay on the ferry or park it at the ferry terminal.

From Port Askaig
Follow the road (A846) from Port Askaig to Bridgend. Turn right at the T Junction at Bridgend for Bruichladdich (A847). Follow this road for 5 miles. Once you have passed the turning to Kilchoman you will take the first right and Gortan Self catering is the first house on the right.

From Port Ellen (or Airport)
Follow the (A846) to Bowmore. Go through Bowmore towards Bridgend. Turn left at the T junction at Bridgend (just after the hotel) heading towards Bruichladdich (A847). Follow this road for 5 miles. Once you have passed the turning to Kilchoman you will take the first right and Gortan Self catering is the first house on the right.
