October 04 Update
The GIA opening Concert The opening Concert was held in St Columba Hall on Friday 1st October. The President was introduced and he ‘chaired’ the evening. The concert opened with a rousing selection played on the pipes by Pipe Major Andrew McCowan. This was followed by the first of three spots, by The Glasgow Islay Junior Gaelic Choir, conducted by Jane McQueen. During the concert eight members entertained us with songs, poem and instruments. These members were, Meg Buchanan, Alison Campbell, Fraser Munro, Eilidh Munro, Catriona McNeil, Alison Buchanan, Alistair Hanby, and Clare Campbell.
Alastair Carmichael gave the vote of thanks. Before closing the evening, the President thanked the excellent audience, and wished the Junior choir and its soloists every success at the National Mod in Perth in ten days time. |
