SEPTEMBER UPDATE 2007
The Senior citizens Dinner and ceilidh was held on Saturday 8th September in Westerton Hall, Bearsden.
Our new President Peter Campbell was on the Chair for the evening and he kept things moving along smoothly.
Peter worked hard as he also performed some gaelic songs on the night also.
The other performers were guest Artistes John Mac Millan on fiddle from Bearsden Fiddlers and Ian Mac Kinnon gaelic signer ex member of The Glasgw Islay Gaelic Choir.

And they were all ably assisted by our accompanist Norma McDougall.
Everybody had a great time, they were entertained, well fed and watered, with a raffle prize draw also. Robert MacKenzie proposed the vote of thanks and the evening closed with the traditional parting song Oidhce Mhath Leibh .

THE GLASGOW ISLAY ASSOCIATION OPENING CONCERT
ON FRIDAY 5TH OCTOBER IN WOODSIDE HALLS.
This event traditionally launches another session and what a nights entertainment had by all. The quality of the guest performers was second to none!
The evening was chaired by Peter Campbell our President and he carried out this task in an efficient and pleasant manner.
The entertainers for the concert were the following people;
The Glasgow Islay Junior Choir, conducted by Jane McQueen,
Doreen Smith Mod gold medallist 1975,
Norman McKinnon mod gold medallist 1994,
Peter Campbell ( Our Chairman ),
Lindsay McArthur Islay piper,
Alison Buchanan ex member of the Junior Choir,
Accompanist for the night was Norma McDougall.
>From within the Junior Choir the following children performed;
Meg Buchanan Pipes and a song,
Heather Kindness Highland dancing and playing the clarsach,
Clare Campbell Highland dancing and a song,
Christina Gorman, Bridghe Morrison, and Caitlin Gallacher sang together,
Ishbal MacLennan a song,
Aimee Clark played clarsach,
Fiona Morrison played two piano pieces.
There was a break in the proceedings to allow everyone to have a cuppa with plenty sandwiches and home baking all provided by the GIA committee members.
A raffle draw followed with some excellent prizes on offer and the vote of thanks was proposed by Malcolm Campbell ( vice President ).
We also made the club 200 draw on the night check the web site for details of the winners. I think you will agree that we had a wealth of talent on show and the evening came to a close with Oidhce Mhath Leibh. Check out the pictures from the evening..
